Mcfly To Attempt Metal?

McFly reckon they will be like "Kiss or Slipknot" in ten years time.
The 'Party Girl' group have changed their sound dramatically over their career, going from guitar pop to rock and now having a dance music influenced sound; but singer and guitarist Danny Jones sees their long term future in either a glam rock or heavy metal.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I reckon in 10 or 15 years we'll either be like Kiss or Slipknot where we have to cover ourselves up in all sorts of makeup. That'll be the way."
His bandmate, frontman Tom Fletcher, is a little less sure, saying he likes to take each new album as it comes.
He said: "It's hard to tell how we'll be in 10 years time, this time two or three years ago we'd never have imagined this album to be like it is, and each time we go into the studio and record an album you never really know what it's going to come out like, or what influences we're going to be into."
McFly - which also includes bass player Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry - release their seventh album 'Above The Noise' in the UK on November 15."

Fletcher Fuming Over Awards Show Performance

"MCFLY star TOM FLETCHER was left fuming when his guitar cut out during a performance of the band's latest song at a British awards show on Thursday night (30Sep10).
The four-piece took to the stage at the Digital Music Awards in London to belt out their track Party Girl.
But the performance was thrown into chaos when Fletcher's guitar broke - and he's annoyed the problem wasn't resolved to finish the song.
In a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "Well that was a blowout. Guitar cut out halfway through Party Girl. If I look miserable when that goes on TV I apologise!" "

McFLY The sun Biz session
McFLY-ing in a new direction
MCFLY have undergone a dramatic synth-pop makeover in a bid to "compete on an international level".
Love or hate their new direction, the lads - minus poorly drummer HARRY JUDD - went back to basics for their Biz Session.
Clutching acoustic guitars, the three healthy McFlyers blitzed their way through latest single Party Girl, oldie Room On The 3rd Floor and DANNY JONES' powerful cover of THE VERVE'S Bittersweet Symphony.
Dougie sparked hilarity with frequent requests fired at their keyboard player Isaac, such as: "Play something that represents the moment you realise you're in love with your dad."
Danny then took up vocal duties for an impromptu and improvised new 'song' Angry Pirate as his bandmates - and everyone else - rolled around giggling.
I spoke to the boys once they'd finished their set/tomfoolery, and they were equally playful sat down on a sofa.
"Do you share clothes?" I asked Dougie of his relationship with THE SATURDAYS singer FRANKIE SANDFORD.
Amusingly, the boys misheard my question as: "Do you sh*g loads?"
Say it fast and you'll understand how they got the wrong end of the stick.
Danny cheekily quipped: "What's it like Dougie, what's it like? We ask him that all the time."
Back to business and Tom explained why they took the risky decision to internationalise their sound and tone down the six-string strumming - with help from heavyweight US producer DALLAS AUSTIN.
He said: "We realised in the past that we had so much going on in the UK, we never had time to go out.
"Literally, our first trip to Europe was only last year and we've been around for seven years now.
"I think people now realise that we have an amazing fanbase around the world that has built up over the last seven years, through the internet and things.
"So, in our minds, we knew this album was one that we would definitely release all over the world - and go and tour it there."
That said, it seems they've already made quite an impact abroad - especially with randy Brazilian mums.
Danny said: "I got a box full of condoms. There was a letter and it said: 'My daughter's a big fan - and so am I.'
"She wrote her address and described what she wanted me to do to her. It was filthy.
"I didn't go because there wasn't a picture."
Meanwhile, the boys have clearly upped the ante in the boozing stakes.
Putting drummer Harry's case forward for my Caner Of The Year crown, Tom revealed: "Harry was carrying a round of drinks up the stairs of a club.
"He tripped over and he didn't want to drop the drinks - so he didn't put his hands down.
"He headbutted the stairs and he split his lip. It was literally hanging off. He spent the whole night with blood soaked into his shirt.
"We ended up sitting in hospital for six hours getting his lip stitched."
Next time Harry, let me get the drinks.
Watch all three Biz Session songs - including Danny's superb, unrehearsed version of Bittersweet Symphony - by clicking on the video links, above right.
McFly play the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire on October 19 and the 02 Apollo Manchester on October 23.

Party Girl review

I'd just like to say that now I'm back in education (Year 12), my Daily Reviews won't be so daily anymore. Anyhoo, shall we crack on?
A musical hiatus, in my eyes, constitutes a problem for both the artist and myself, particularly if I like said artist. On a hiatus, a musical act takes a lot of time out - usually more than the standard two/three/four years it takes to produce most albums - like The Killers are doing now, leaving a member of the band to go solo or for every member to do their own thing, musical or non-musical, away from the scene.
McFly were never that rated very high in my books when they stormed onto the 'scene' in 2004, and all they way through their four previous albums I felt like nothing they did really jumped out at me; it was typical boyband pop that ticked all the commercial boxes, but never really jumped out as something to write home about. Of course, they were the epitome of commerciality: they had the looks, the great voices, the teen girl fanbase, they played their instruments well, and produced very catchy songs. It all paid off. When McFly announced their hiatus/indefinite split, they left the airwaves with 7 #1's, 15 Top 10 hits, 2 multi-platinum #1 albums, and a BRIT Award.
Not to darken their doorway but despite all their success, they'd only produced one song that I liked: 'Lies', so as you can imagine - I was hardly distraught when they took their hiatus, in fact: I didn't even notice.
So the 'problem' ball wasn't in my court upon the comeback from their hiatus - it was in their's. And the ball consisted of how times have changed since inoffensive, cheery pop songs topped the charts; right now it's all about charity singles, reality singles, or thigh, thigh and more thigh.
It's like the charts have gone through puberty on a rundown council estate. It starts in 2000, innocent enough, a few bubbly songs and some controversial ones that really didn’t know what they were doing in the first place. Then it gradually grows up and, ten years later, it's strutting it's egomaniac, manufactured popstars like a street-walker and selling nothing but sex. But if sex is what sells, why not jump on the band-wagon?
This was McFly's problem - should they stick with their original sound or sex things up a bit and add a few synths to appeal to a fresher market?
Literally one second into 'Party Girl' tells us this is a far cry from the relacklustre 'Obviously', or even the rampaging guitars of 'Lies'. Opening to a hugely listenable riff that sounds like a cross between Lady GaGa's 'Bad Romance' and The Jackson 5's 'Can You Feel It?', the layering is clearly more complex than a simple vocal, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and drums set-up we’re used to. It's all been replaced by and pulsing synth, THAT riff and a drum machine on Red Bull.
The verses stomp along to a beat that sounds like something GaGa would be proud of, with syncopated chords striking their way through to the foreground just to be heard above the production that has more going on than Ashley Cole's bedroom. Just when you think the whole party can't get any bigger, the chorus arrives with Danny's vocals meshing effortlessly into the synth-driven proceedings, and with Tom backing up every chorus and instrumental who THAT riff, this song is undeniably one of the best electropop songs of the last year.
Of course, such a jump into new territory warrants the occasional thorn in the foot: Tom's vocals in the bridge do appear to sound as home as Hitler would in a Mosque; not quite working with the darker, heavier sound but maybe that's just because I've always found his vocals a bit ropey, or it could be the vocoder because on a live performance, McFly shut the place down.
The video is pretty amazing too. Extending the heavier, sexier sound, the boys are getting their kits off for the promo clip which is a far more Gothic, vampire-esque fantasy than anything we've ever seen; yes, it's even better than the video for 'Lies'. With plenty of blood imagery, sex scenes, and just a general turn towards the supernatural, this video is as relentlessly entertaining as the song.
Of course, this is the unedited video; the one that's not shown on TV; coz i iz well hard innit.
It seems McFly have drastically changed their image, like REALLY sexing it up, and with the song, they’ll clearly be wanting to appeal to a whole new demographic as well as their older ones. The whole song boasts more musicality than anything we’ve heard from McFly - the modulation in key towards the end, the syncopated synth-stabs, and a vocal riff that will be as memorable in ten years time as it is today; this songs triumphs above my prejudice of McFly when I heard of their comeback, and whilst many are still straddling a nice, cosy fence, McFly have won over a new fan here already.
End Note: This song is up against some seriously fierce competition for #1 on the week it's released. It’ll have to fend off comebacks from The Script with 'For The First Time', plus the dubiously received 'Drummer Boy' from Alesha Dixon. But for me, it's fiercest competition is Alexandra Burke's 'Start Without You'. It's fair to say that week will be the most interesting listen in on Radio 1 for a VERY long time, because if McFly pip Alexandra, it'll be my first five star song to reach #1 since 'Bad Romance' itself, way back at the very beginning of 2010.

Banned version!
"Mcfly Video Banned By Tv BossesBoyband MCFLY had to remake the promo for their comeback single PARTY GIRL - after broadcasting bosses in the U.K. banned the video from TV over its graphic content and nudity.
The Obviously stars released the new track this week (beg06Sep10), which is their first single since 2008's Do Ya/Stay With Me.
But the promo, which features explicit scenes of flesh-eating vampires and bandmember Harry Judd partially nude, had to be re-cut to overcome a TV broadcast ban.
Speaking about the new edit, Judd says, "We definitely like the banned version a lot more. There is a lot more nudity." "
"Mcfly Bring U.K. Breakfast Show To A Rocking End
British boyband MCFLY made sure U.K. morning show GMTV went out with a bang on Friday (03Sep10) - when guitarist DOUGIE POYNTER jumped on a shocked presenter's shoulders during his performance.
The longrunning news show ended on Friday in preparation for a new look breakfast programme which will air later this month (Sep10).
MCFly chatted with presenters Andrew Castle and Emma Crosby before performing their new track Party Girl - with Poynter bouncing onto the sofa to play over a bemused Castle's head.
And it wasn't long until the presenter got involved with the fun, hoisting the rocker on his shoulders while he was still playing.
Poynter took to his Twitter.com page to tell fans, "Last GMTV was fun. Andrew put me on his shoulders, (I) tried to fart." "
